Lunch Box Series LSB*2

Today's Lunch Box had:
Munakya Sambar/Drumstick Sambar
Cabbage-Egg fry
Peppercumin Rasam
Plain Rice
Curd Rice
Munakaya/Drumstick Sambar:
Ingredients Needed:
Sambar Onions-250gms
Sambar Powder-1 1/2tsp
Tomato-2medium nos.
Tamarind-Lemon size
Tur dal-1cup
Turmeric powder- a pinch
Salt to Taste
For Seasoning:
Mustard+urad dal-1/2tsp
cumin seeds-1/2tsp
Menthi seeds-1/2tsp
Corinader leaves
Curry leaves
Preparation Method:
1.Clean and cut Munakya into desired length,and soak samdar
onions,tamarind in water separately,so that the onions skin will
comes out easily.
2.Mean while clean and wash the dal and keep it in pressure cooker
with glass of water,turmeric and few drops of oil for 3whistles.
3.Then chop tomato's into small pieces finely.Once the whisle comes
out allow it to cool,mean while heat kadai with oil,and put all
seasoning items,once they splutter add onions and fry fro 2mnts
then add munakya and fry them for 5mnts so that munakya cookswell.
4. Remove the dal from pressure cooker and mash it smoothely with
wooden stick,then remove the tamarind juice and keep it aside.
5. Then add chopped tomato's along with sambar powder stir them for
2mnts so that munakya coates all things.thn add dal with required
water alond with tamarind juice allow them to cook for 2mnts on
highflame.then add salt as requried and simmer it for 10mnts so
that drumstick cooked properly,once the drumstick cooked well,add
corinader leaves.and serve with plain rice.

Cabbage-Egg fry:
Ingredients Needed:
Chilli Powder-1tsp
Onion-1small nos
Mustard+urad dal-1/2tsp
curry leaves
corinader leaves
Turmeric Powder-apinch
Preparation Method:
1.Clean and chop the cabbage into small pieces finely.then chop
onion also into small pieces.

2.Take the eggs and beat them propely into a boowl.
3.Heat a pan with oil then add seasoning,once they splutter add onions fry them for light brown colour,then add cabbage along turmeric fry fry them for 3mnts till cabbabe turns light yellow,the add beaten eggs into that,along with that
add chill pwd,salt and simmer them 5mnts till egg cooked well.

Today's Lunch Box had
Vengaya /Brinjal Sambar
Carrot fry
Pepper cumin Rasam
Plain Rice
Curd Rice

Vengaya Sambar/Brinjal Sambar
Ingredients Needed:
Sambar onions-50gms
Tamarind-small lemon size
Turmeric powder-a pinch
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves
mustard+urad dal-1/2tsp
Toor dal-1cup
Sambar powder-1tsp
Salt to taste
Preparation Method:
1. Clean the Toordal and pressure with 1 cup of water,Turmeric,1tbsp of oil for 3 whistles
2. Mean while soak the Tamarind in water,and chop the tomato finely.
3. Soak the sambar onions also in water,so that the skin will come out easily.
4.wash the brinjals and cut into 4pieces each ,put them in salt water so that it doesn't get

6.Heat a kadai,and pour 1tbsp of oil,then put mustard+urad dal,once its splutter put
sambar onions,curryleaves and fry them for 1mnt,and the put tomato into itand fry
them along 1tsp of Sambar pwd and fry them for 1mnt again.
7. Mean while the pressure will be out ,and add cooked dal and brinjals to seasoning and
put Tamarind juice ,salt,ajust the water required.cook for 5 mnts on high flame and
simmer for 10 mnts and garnish with corinader leaves.
Carrot fry:
Ingredients Needed:
Fried gram powder-1tbsp
Chill powder-1tsp
curry leaves
salt to taste
Mustard+urad dal-1/2tsp
Cumin seeds-1/2tsp
Preparation method:
1. Peel the outer skin of carrot and wash,then cut them into small pieces and boil them with
200ml of water.
2. Mean while chop the onions finely,once the carrot is cooked well.Heat the pan with 1tbsp
of oil and pour all seasoning items once they all splutter,put the chopped onions and
fry them till light brown colour.Mean while drain the water from carrot.To that
add carrot , apinch turmeric pwd,stir them and close with lid for 5mnts.
3. Then to that add 1tsp of chill pwd,salt and stir them once again so that carrot coats all the
spices.then finely add 1tbsp of fried gram pwd keep it for 2mnts and remove.
This will be really taste if u serve with hot rice.
